Two years ago we saw Death Lens for the first time in Toronto, and in 2026 they finally returned! We've been big fans of Death Lens since 2020. Their music and videos from their underground shows around LA got us through some rough times, reminding us what life was like during that crazy year. The venue of choice was The Garrison, the same as the last time they were in town, and this time they were touring with Denver hardcore band Destiny Bond. Also on the bill were So Perfect and Black Budget, who played with them the last time they were in Toronto too. We got there early for setup and soundcheck, grabbed a bite at the Portuguese bakery next door, and we were off to the races.
Black Budget kicked off the night with a high-energy, intense 30-minute set. Playing new and older material, the band got the room warmed up and ready for an amazing night. So Perfect were up next, fellow Toronto locals with an indie rock and shoegaze sound. This was our first time seeing them, which was really cool.
Destiny Bond took the stage shortly after and blew the roof off The Garrison. We don't get to see too many hardcore bands, so Destiny Bond made us want to start moshing and dancing immediately. The crowd was singing the lyrics and everyone had a huge smile on their face. We had to buy their vinyl, which has some really cool art, and you can get it from their store here. We strongly recommend checking out Destiny Bond the next time they are in Toronto.
Now it was finally time for Death Lens! We were so excited. The band kicked off the show with their iconic commanding stage presence, with the singer yelling at everyone who was outside to "come the fuck in." Honestly, bands should do this more. They went on to play some of our favourite tunes, including Disturb The Peace, Limousine, Moontower, and many more. The crowd was singing along, there was dancing, moshing, and the best vibes. The band played a 50-minute non-stop intense set, and you could honestly focus on any one member and be extremely entertained. They all individually have such a strong stage presence that it makes the room and the stage come alive. When they finished, the room yelled for more, and we got what we wanted! The band played two more songs and gave it their all alongside the crowd. We bought two records, and we noticed that by the end of the night every member of Black Budget had bought one as well. Not coordinated, I swear!
